Game Review
DDD (as in ‘Three D’) Pool blurs is one of the finest quality billiards simulations that can be found. Everything from the spot-on physics to the levels of shiny detail that can be seen on the pool balls, this is video game pool as it was meant to be played.
Watch for Sharks
DDD Pool offers five different game modes for you to get your pool on:
- Practice Mode: What would any pool game be without a practice mode? This is the perfect place to hone your shooting skills until you make it to shark status. Then, and only then, will you be ready to take on the big boys.
- 8 Ball: Easily the best known version, 8 ball is all about that magical black ball. Not the kind that you buy from Kmart and look to for great yes or no wisdom, but the sleek, thermoset resin type. The balls are divided into solids and stripes, and each player must hit all of his or her balls in before sinking the 8 ball. If the 8 ball is sunk before the other balls, the player that sunk it automatically loses.
- 9 Ball: In 9 Ball, balls one through nine are used, and they must hit in order. They don’t have to be sunk in order, only hit, making combination shots very popular in this variation. The player to legally sink the 9 ball wins. A popular strategy is to try to sink the 9 ball as soon as possible utilizing a combination shot.
- 8 Ball Challenge: Just you, 15 balls, and the clock. The only rules that applies is you have to sink the 8 ball last. How fast can you clear the table?
- 9 Ball Challenge: Just like 9 Ball, but no computer. Like the 8 Ball Challenge, you need to sink all of the balls as fast as you can.
So Cool
The problem will so many other games is that they hold your hand. Usually, you’re presented with a marker that shows you exactly where you balls will go. In DDD Pool, all you’re given is a marker to show where you’re aiming, and the rest is up to you. You have to calculate the entire trajectory in your own head; no one is going to do it for you. Sorry!
DDD Pool is one of the best games you are going to find on the net, and easily the best pool game. Everything looks and feels so authentic. The graphics are top notch and way prettier that what you would expect, and the texture on the pool balls will leave you drooling for more. Go on and give this one a shot, you won’t be disappointed.
